English translation
4149. It was narrated from ‘Abdullāh bin ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ came to Fāṭimah and found a curtain over her door, so he did not enter. And he rarely entered without greeting her first. ‘Alī came and saw her looking worried and he said: “What is the matter with you?” She said: “The Prophet ﷺ came to me, but he did not come in.” ‘Alī went to him and said: “O Messenger of Allāh, Fāṭimah is much worried because you came to her, but you did not come in.” He said: “What have I to do with (the luxuries of) this world? What have I to do with prints and decorations?” He went to Fāṭimah and told her what the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ had said. She said: "Say to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, what do you enjoin me to do?" He said: "Tell her to send it to the people of so-and-so." (Saḥīḥ)
