4212. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbās said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'At the end of time, some people will dye their hair with black like the breasts of pigeons. They will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise.'" (Sahih)
4212 - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَكُونُ قَوْمٌ يَخْضِبُونَ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ بِالسَّوَادِ، كَحَوَاصِلِ الْحَمَامِ، لَا يَرِيحُونَ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ»

Dying the hair black is unlawful for both men and women, but Katam or henna can be used for this purpose.
