English translation

4469. It was narrated from Abū Hurairah, and Zaid bin Khālid Al-Juhānī, that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was asked about a slave girl who commits Zinā, and she has not been married. He said: "If she commits Zinā, flog her; then if she commits Zinā, flog her; then if she commits Zinā, flog her; then if she commits Zinā, flog her; then if she commits Zinā sell her, even for a rope." (Saḥīḥ) Ibn Shihāb said: "I do not know if it was the third or fourth time."

Commentary

Legal punishments for slaves are normally about half of that for free people.
