4478. A similar report (as nō. 4479) was narrated from yahya bin Ayyūb, Haiwah bin Shurāih, and Ibn Lahī‘ah, from Ibn Al-Ḥād, with the same chain and meaning, and he said that after the beating, the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said to his Companions: "Reproach him." So they turned to face him and said: "You did not fear Allāh, and you did not feel shy before the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ." Then they let him go. And at the end he said: "Rather say: 'O Allāh, forgive him, O Allāh, have mercy on him.'"
