English translation

4605. It was narrated from 'Ubaidullāh bin Abī Rāfi', from his father that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Let me not find one of you reclining on his couch, and when he hears of a command that I have enjoined or a prohibition I have issued, he says: 'We do not know; what we find in the Book of Allāh, we follow.'" (Sahih)

Commentary

Regarding the fact that the Sunnah is revelation, Allāh has said: "Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only a revelation revealed." (An-Najm 53:24)
