English translation

496. It was reported from Wakī' that Dāwūd bin Sawwār Al-Muzanī narrated with his chain and its meaning (a narration similar to no. 496), and he added: "And if one of you marries off his (female) servant to his slave or servant, then let him not look at (the portion of the body) which is below the navel and above the knees." (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū Dāwūd said: Wakī' made a mistake with his name. Abū Dāwūd Aṭ-Ṭayālīsī reported this Ḥadīth from him, so he said: "Abū Ḥamzah Sawwār Aṣ-Ṣayrafī narrated to us..."

496 - حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ وَزَادَ: «وَإِذَا زَوَّجَ أَحَدُكُمْ خَادِمَهُ عَبْدَهُ أَوْ أَجِيرَهُ، فَلَا يَنْظُرْ إِلَى مَا دُونَ السُّرَّةِ وَفَوْقَ الرُّكْبَةِ» قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: وَهِمَ وَكِيعٌ فِي اسْمِهِ، وَرَوَى عَنْهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ سَوَّارٌ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ
