5038. It was narrated from Abū Burdah that his father said: "The Jews used to sneeze in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, hoping that he would say to them, 'Yarḥamuk-Allāh (May Allāh have mercy on you),' but he used to say: 'Yaḥdikumullāh, wa yuṣlihu bālakum (May Allāh guide you and set your affairs straight)." (Ṣaḥīḥ)
5038 - حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ الدَّيْلَمِ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَتِ الْيَهُودُ تَعَاطَسُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهَا يَرْحَمُكُمُ اللَّهُ، فَكَانَ يَقُولُ: «يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ، وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ»
