English translation

5102. It was narrated from Abū Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "If you hear the crowing of a rooster, then ask Allāh for His bounty, for it has seen an angel. And if you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek refuge with Allāh from the Shaitān, for it has seen a devil." (Saḥih)

Arabic text

5102 - حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ، فَسَلُوا اللَّهَ تَعَالَى مِنْ فَضْلِهِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نَهِيقَ الْحِمَارِ، فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ شَيْطَانًا»
