Text and translation

English translation

5168. It was narrated that Zādhān said: I came to Ibn 'Umar, and he had set free a slave of his. He picked up a stick, or something from the ground, and said: I will not have even the equivalent of this in reward for that. I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: ‘Whoever slaps or beats his slave, the expiation for that is to set him free.’” (Sahih)
