English translation
5197. It was narrated that Abū Umāmah said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'The one who is closest of people to Allāh, the Most High, is the one who initiates the greeting of Salām.'" (Saḥīh)

5197 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ الذُّهْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ وَهْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ الْحِمْصِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِاللَّهِ مَنْ بَدَأَهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ»
