English translation

584. It was reported from Al-A'mash from Ismā'il bin Rajā', from Aws bin Dāma'aj Al-Ḥadramī, he said: I heard Abū Mas'ūd (narrate), from the Prophet ﷺ. And he narrated this Hadith (similar to no. 583). He said: “So if they are equivalent in recitation, then the one who is more knowledgeable of the Sunnah (should lead). And if they are equivalent in (the knowledge of) the Sunnah, then the one who has performed the Hijrah earlier.” And he did not say: “And the one who has been reciting the longest.” (Ṣaḥīḥ) Abū Dāwūd said: Ḥajjāj bin Arṭaḥ reported it from Ismā‘īl, he said: “And do not sit on the Takrimah of anyone without his permission.”
