English translation

798. It was reported from Abū Qatādah, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ would lead us in prayer, and in the Zuhr and ʿAṣr prayers, in the first two Rak'ah, he would recite Fātiḥatil-Kitāb and another Sūrah. Sometimes he would make us hear a Verse (that he was reciting). And he would lengthen the first Rak'ah of Zuhr, and make the second one short. And he would do the same for the Ṣubḥ prayer." (Ṣaḥīḥ)Abū Dāwūd said: Musad-dad[1] did not mention: "Fātiḥatil-Kitāb and another Sūrah."
