3994. Narrated Mu'ādḥ: The one who asked (the Prophet ﷺ) was Jibrīl ('Gabriel) عليه السلام. رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا: The Prophet ﷺ said on the day (of the battle) of Badr, "This is Jibrīl (Gabriel) holding the head of his horse and equipped with arms for the battle.” [٤٠٤]
3994 - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى، سَمِعَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ رِفَاعَةَ، أَنَّ مَلَكًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ، وَعَنْ يَحْيَى، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الهَادِ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَهُ يَوْمَ حَدَّثَهُ مُعَاذٌ هَذَا الحَدِيثَ فَقَالَ يَزِيدُ: فَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ: «إِنَّ السَّائِلَ هُوَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ»
