"And We took the Children of Isrāel across the sea, and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when the drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that Lā ilāha illa (Huwa) (none has the right to be worshipped but) He (Allāh), in Whom the Children of Isrāel believe, and I am one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allāh's Will).'" (V.10:90)

English translation

4680. Narrated Ibn 'Abbās رضي الله عنهما: When the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Al-Madīna, the Jews were observing the Ṣaum (fast) on 'Ashūrā' (10th of Muḥarram) and they said, "This is the day when Mūsā (Moses) became victorious over Fir'aun (Pharoah)." On that, the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions, "You (Muslims) have more right to celebrate Mūsā's victory than they have, so observe the Ṣaum on this day." (11) SŪRAH HŪD(The Prophet Hūd) In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious,the Most Merciful.

4680 - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ المَدِينَةَ وَاليَهُودُ تَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ، فَقَالُوا: هَذَا يَوْمٌ ظَهَرَ فِيهِ مُوسَى عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: «أَنْتُمْ أَحَقُّ بِمُوسَى مِنْهُمْ فَصُومُوا» سُورَةُ هُودٍ وَقَالَ أَبُو مَيْسَرَةَ: " الأَوَّاهُ: الرَّحِيمُ بِالحَبَشِيَّةِ " وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: (بَادِئَ الرَّأْيِ): «مَا ظَهَرَ لَنَا» وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {الجُودِيُّ} [هود: 44]: «جَبَلٌ بِالْجَزِيرَةِ» وَقَالَ الحَسَنُ: {إِنَّكَ لَأَنْتَ الحَلِيمُ} [هود: 87]: «يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ» وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: {أَقْلِعِي} [هود: 44]: «أَمْسِكِي»، {عَصِيبٌ} [هود: 77] : «شَدِيدٌ». {لاَ جَرَمَ} [هود: 22]: «بَلَى». {وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ} [هود: 40]: «نَبَعَ المَاءُ» وَقَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ: «وَجْهُ الأَرْضِ» {أَلاَ إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ أَلاَ حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ} [هود: 5] وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ: {وَحَاقَ} [هود: 8]: «نَزَلَ». {يَحِيقُ} [فاطر: 43]: «يَنْزِلُ». {يَئُوسٌ}: «فَعُولٌ مِنْ يَئِسْتُ» وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {تَبْتَئِسْ} [هود: 36]: «تَحْزَنْ». {يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ} [هود: 5]: «شَكٌّ وَامْتِرَاءٌ فِي الحَقِّ». {لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ} [هود: 5]: «مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنِ اسْتَطَاعُوا»
