4714. Narrated ‘Abdullāh regarding theexplanation of the Verse — “...means ofaccess to their Lord (Allāh)...” (V.17:57): Some persons from mankind used toworship some persons from jinn, thenthose jinn who were worshipped becameMuslims (embraced Islām), but thosehuman beings stuck to their (old) religion. Al-A'mash added : "Say (O Muḥammad ﷺ): 'Call upon those besides Him — whom you pretend (to be gods).' (V.17:56)
4714 - حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ {إِلَى رَبِّهِمُ الوَسِيلَةَ} [الإسراء: 57] قَالَ: «كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الإِنْسِ يَعْبُدُونَ نَاسًا مِنَ الجِنِّ، فَأَسْلَمَ الجِنُّ وَتَمَسَّكَ هَؤُلاَءِ بِدِينِهِمْ» زَادَ الأَشْجَعِيُّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ: {قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ} [الإسراء: 56]
