I said, "O Allāh's Messenger! Why don't you rebuild it on its original foundation laid by Ibrāhīm?" He replied, "Were it not for the fact that your people are close to the Pre-Islāmic Period of Ignorance (i.e., they have recently become Muslims), I would have done so." The subnarrator, 'Abdullāh (bin 'Umar رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ) stated: 'Āishah رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا must have heard this from Allāh's Messenger ﷺ, for in my opinion Allāh's Messenger ﷺ had not (1) (Chap. 42) Manāsik (i.e., Ihrām, Tawāf of Ka'bah and Sā'y (going) between Aṣ-Ṣafa and Al-Marwa, stay at Arafat, Muzdalifa, and Mina, Ramy of Jamarāt, slaughtering of Hady (animal) etc. placed his hand over the two corners of the Ka'bah opposite Al-Hijr only because the Ka'bah was not rebuilt on its original foundations laid by Ibrāhīm عليه السلام .
