English translation

1909. Narrated Abū Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet ﷺ, or said Abūl-Qāsim ﷺ said, "Start observing Ṣaum (fasts) on seeing the crescent-moon (of Ramaḍān), and give up observing Ṣaum (fast) on seeing the crescent-moon (of Shawwāl), and if the sky is overcast (and you cannot see it), complete thirty days of Sha'bān."

1909 - حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَوْ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو القَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ غُبِّيَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا عِدَّةَ شَعْبَانَ ثَلاَثِينَ»
