2050. Narrated Ibn ‘Abbās: رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا‘Ukāz, Majanna and Dhul-Majāz weremarket-places in the Pre-Islāmic Period ofIgnorance. When Islām came, Muslims feltthat in trading there might be a sin. So, theDivine Revelation came: “There is no sin on you if you seek theBounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage by trading)...” (V.2:198) Ibn ‘Abbās recited the Verse in this way.
2050 - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، قَالَ: " كَانَتْ عُكَاظٌ، وَمَجَنَّةُ، وَذُو المَجَازِ، أَسْوَاقًا فِي الجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الإِسْلاَمُ، فَكَأَنَّهُمْ تَأَثَّمُوا فِيهِ، فَنَزَلَتْ: {لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ} [البقرة: 198] فِي مَوَاسِمِ الحَجِّ " قَرَأَهَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ
