243. Narrated Abū Ḥāzim: Saḥl bin Sa'd As-Sā'idī رضي الله عنه was asked by the people, "With what was the wound of the Prophet ﷺ treated?" Saḥl replied, "None remains among the people living who knows that better than I. 'Alī used to bring water in his shield and Fāṭima used to wash the blood off his face. Then straw mat was burnt and the wound was filled with it (i.e. its ashes)."
243 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، سَمِعَ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ، وَسَأَلَهُ النَّاسُ، وَمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ أَحَدٌ: بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ دُووِيَ جُرْحُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي، «كَانَ عَلِيٌّ يَجِيءُ بِتُرْسِهِ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، وَفَاطِمَةُ تَغْسِلُ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ الدَّمَ، فَأُخِذَ حَصِيرٌ فَأُحْرِقَ، فَحُشِيَ بِهِ جُرْحُهُ»
