English translation

4697. Narrated Ibn 'Umar رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "The keys of Al-Ghaib(1) (Unseen) are five which none knows but Allāh: None knows what will happen tomorrow but Allāh; none knows what is in the wombs (a male child or a female) but Allāh; none knows when it will rain but Allāh; none knows at what place one will die; none knows when the Hour will be established but Allāh." [See the Qur'ān, V.31:34.] (14) SŪRAT IBRĀHĪM(The Prophet Ibrāhīm) In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious,the Most Merciful.

4697 - حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ المُنْذِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَفَاتِحُ الغَيْبِ خَمْسٌ لاَ يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا اللَّهُ: لاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَغِيضُ الأَرْحَامُ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَتَى يَأْتِي المَطَرُ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَلاَ تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَتَى تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " سُورَةُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: {هَادٍ} [الرعد: 7]: «دَاعٍ» وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {صَدِيدٌ} [إبراهيم: 16]: «قَيْحٌ وَدَمٌ» وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ: {اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ} [المائدة: 20]: «أَيَادِيَ اللَّهِ عِنْدَكُمْ وَأَيَّامَهُ» وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {مِنْ كُلِّ مَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُ} [إبراهيم: 34] «رَغِبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ فِيهِ»، {يَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا} [الأعراف: 45]: «يَلْتَمِسُونَ لَهَا عِوَجًا»، {وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ} [إبراهيم: 7]: «أَعْلَمَكُمْ، آذَنَكُمْ» {رَدُّوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِمْ}: «هَذَا مَثَلٌ، كَفُّوا عَمَّا أُمِرُوا بِهِ»، {مَقَامِي} [يونس: 71]: «حَيْثُ يُقِيمُهُ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ»، {مِنْ وَرَائِهِ} [إبراهيم: 16]: «قُدَّامَهُ جَهَنَّمُ»، {لَكُمْ تَبَعًا} [إبراهيم: 21]: «وَاحِدُهَا تَابِعٌ مِثْلُ غَيَبٍ وَغَائِبٍ»، {بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ} [إبراهيم: 22]: «اسْتَصْرَخَنِي اسْتَغَاثَنِي»، {يَسْتَصْرِخُهُ} [القصص: 18]: «مِنَ الصُّرَاخِ» (وَلَا خِلاَلَ): «مَصْدَرُ خَالَلْتُهُ خِلاَلًا، وَيَجُوزُ أَيْضًا جَمْعُ خُلَّةٍ وَخِلاَلٍ»، {اجْتُثَّتْ} [إبراهيم: 26]: «اسْتُؤْصِلَتْ»

    (1) (H. 4697) Al-Ghaib: (literally means a thing not seen). This word includes vast meanings: Belief in Allāh, angels, Holy Books, Allāh's Messengers, Day of Resurrection and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments), it also includes what Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ informed about the knowledge of the matters of the past, present and future things. e.g., news about the creation of the heavens, and earth, botanical and zoological life, the news about the nations of the past, and about Paradise and Hell etc.
