5882. Narrated 'Āishah رضي الله عنها: A necklace belonging to Asmā' was lost, and the Prophet ﷺ sent men in its search. The time for the Ṣalāt (prayer) became due and they were without ablution and they could not find water; therefore they offered Ṣalāt (prayer) without ablution. They mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ. Then Allāh revealed the Verse of Tayammum. ('Āishah added that she had borrowed (the necklace) from Asmā').
٥٨٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ﵂ قَالَتْ: «هَلَكَتْ قِلَادَةٌ لِأَسْمَاءَ، فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي طَلَبِهَا رِجَالًا، فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَلَيْسُوا عَلَى وُضُوءٍ وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا مَاءً، فَصَلَّوْا وَهُمْ عَلَى غَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ، فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ آيَةَ التَّيَمُّمِ» زَادَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ: اسْتَعَارَتْ مِنْ أَسْمَاءَ.
