English translation

6638. Narrated Abū D̄har: I reached him(the Prophet ﷺ) while in the shade of theKa'bah; he was saying, "They are the losers,by the Lord of the Ka'bah! They are thelosers, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!" I said (tomyself), "What is wrong with me? Is anythingimproper detected in me? What is wrongwith me?"(1) Then I sat beside him and hekept on saying his statement. I could notremain quiet, and Allāh knows in whatsorrowful state I was at that time. So I said,"Who are they (the losers)? Let my fatherand mother be sacrificed for you, O Allāh'sMessenger!" He said, "They are the wealthypeople, except the one who does like this;and like this, and like this (i.e., spends hiswealth in Allāh's Cause)."
