Commentary

Each and every command of the Prophet ﷺ is binding on the community. Numerous Verses of the Qur'an confirm the assertion. Anything and everything the Prophet ﷺ prohibits must be avoided. Allāh the Glorified says in His Book: "... And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, desist from it..." (59:7) The above quoted Verse proves that a command, as a rule, is binding although in certain contexts it could simply mean preferability or recommendation.
