Commentary
Ibrâhim bin Sa'd ﷺ is the grandson of Ibrâhim bin 'Awf ﷺ. The narrator Sa'd has reported the same Hadith from Abu Hurairah ﷺ. The Hadith mentions not only garlic but onion and leek as well.
The Hadith makes it clear that the reason why it is prohibited to enter the mosque after consuming these substances is their foul smell, which annoys the worshippers. That also explains why the Prophet ﷺ had ordered the
people to wash themselves and put on clean clothes before coming to the mosque for Friday prayers.
