English translation

1313. It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "Rain fell on the day of 'Eid at the time of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, so he led them in prayer in the mosque. (Da'if)

Arabic text

1313 - حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا يَحْيَى عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ التَّيْمِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: «أَصَابَ النَّاسَ مَطَرٌ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ» بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي لُبْسِ السِّلَاحِ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ

Commentary

The Hadith has been declared by Shaikh Albānī as 'Weak'. Yet, the correct position is that if there is a situation which makes it impossible to pray 'Eid' in the open, the prayer may be offered inside the mosque.
