English translation
1497. It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "I heard the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ say: 'When you offer the prayer for the deceased, supplicate sincerely for him.'" (Hasan)

1497 - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْمَدِينِيِّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ، فَأَخْلِصُوا لَهُ الدُّعَاءَ»

Commentary
The real purpose of the funeral prayer is to seek forgiveness for the deceased. Sincerity of the heart is a condition for the acceptance of invocation. So every Muslim should learn funeral supplications, three of these supplications will be mentioned ahead.
