English translation

1694. It was narrated from Anas bin Mālik that Zaid bin Thābit said: "We ate Suhur with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ then we got up to perform prayer." I said: "How long was there between the two?" He said: "As long as it takes to recite fifty Verses." (Sahih)

Commentary

Although the predawn meal can be taken long before the appearance of dawn, but it is better to take it in the last part of the night, a little before the dawn. b. Offering morning prayer at its first time is more virtuous. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ performed morning prayer a short while after taking the predawn meal.
