English translation

1725. It was narrated that 'Abdullâh bin Mas'ud said: "I rarely saw the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ not fasting on a Friday." (Hasan)

Arabic text

1725 - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: «قَلَّمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفْطِرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ»

Commentary

This Hadith is not contradictory to the previous Ahâdith, because if the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ fasted on Friday, he would have definitely observed fast on Thursday or Saturday.
