Commentary

a. When camels are watered, they drink the water and sit down near the well, after a short while they drink again, that is why the adjoining place of the well is reserved for animals, and for this reason, this place is considered the property of the person who owns the well. b. If someone digs up a well at a place which is no one's land, he is deemed to be the owner of that well, in addition to forty fore-arms' length of the surrounding area.
