2785. 'Abdullāh bin 'Amr said: "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: 'There is no band of warriors that fights in the cause of Allāh and acquires war spoils, but they have been given two thirds of their reward, but if they do not get any spoils of war, then they will have their reward in full (in the Hereafter).'" (Sahih)
2785 - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيَّ يَقُولُ: إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَا مِنْ غَازِيَةٍ تَغْزُو فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيُصِيبُوا غَنِيمَةً، إِلَّا تَعَجَّلُوا ثُلُثَيْ أَجْرِهِمْ. فَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِيبُوا غَنِيمَةً تَمَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ»

The more one bears hardship in Jihād, the more reward he gets. Not gaining booty should not be a source of anxiety since its end is better. The booty should be spent in the way of Allāh instead of satisfying one's own needs, in order to secure the full reward.
