English translation

2914. It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: "The people of Al-Madinah should begin the Talbiyah from Dhul-Hulaifah, the people of Shâm from Juhfah, and the people of Najd from Qarn." 'Abdullâh said: "As for these three, I heard them from the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ. And it reached me that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: 'And the people of Yemen should enter Ihrâm from Yalamlam.'" 2914 - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُصْعَبٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «يُهِلُّ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ، وَأَهْلُ الشَّامِ مِنَ الْجُحْفَةِ وَأَهْلُ نَجْدٍ مِنْ قَرْنٍ» فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: أَمَّا هَذِهِ الثَّلَاثَةُ، فَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَبَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: وَيُهِلُّ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ مِنْ يَلَمْلَمَ "

Commentary

Miqât means the point a pilgrim cannot cross without entering in the state of Ihram. The locations of these points are specified at various roads that lead to Makkah. People coming from afar, means all those who reside in any place in the world out of the boundaries of the Miqât. They enter in the state of Ihram when they reach the Miqât, and those who live within the boundaries of Miqât enter the state of Ihram from their houses.
