English translation

3210. It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: "I asked the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ about the all-black dog and he said: '(It is) a devil.'" (Sahih)

Arabic text

3210 - حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْكَلْبِ الْأَسْوَدِ الْبَهِيمِ، فَقَالَ: «شَيْطَانٌ»

Commentary

The Hadith indicates that a pure black colored dog should not be kept. If keeping such a dog is not permitted then raising it or hunting with it is also not allowed. However, it is not prohibited rather it is only dislikable. So, the game hunted by such a dog is not prohibited.
