3465. It was narrated from 'Abdul-Muhaimin bin 'Abbās bin Sahl bin Sa'd As-Sā'idi, from his father, that his grandfather said: "On the Day of Uhud, I recognized the one who wounded the face of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, the one who was washing the blood from the face of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and treating him, and the one who
was bringing water in a shield, and with what the wound was treated until the bleeding stopped. The one who was carrying the water in the shield was 'Ali. The one who was treating the wound was Fātimah. When the bleeding would not stop, she burned a piece of a worn out mat and applied the ashes to it (the wound), then the bleeding stopped. (Sahih)

Commentary
In the battle of Uhud when enemies reached near the Prophet ﷺ, 'Utbah bin Abu Waqqās pelted him with stones and the Prophet ﷺ fell down on his side. His lower right incisor (i.e., the tooth that is between a canine and a front tooth) was broken, and his lower lip was wounded. He was also attacked by 'Abdullāh bin Shihāb Zuhri who cleaved his forehead. 'Abdullāh bin Qamī'ah struck him violently with his sword; it was so strong that two rings of his iron-ringed helmet penetrated into his cheek. (Ar-Rahiq Al-Makhtum, page 371)
