Commentary

If an animal whose meat is lawful dies, its skin could be used after being tanned. Some scholars, based on Hadith 3609, are of the opinion that even the skin of those animals whose meat is unlawful becomes pure after having tanned. Some are of the opinion that the skin of the animals whose meat is forbidden does not become pure even if it is tanned.
