After marrying a daughter off, her parents are no longer responsible for her maintenance. The father is responsible to spend on his widow or divorced daughter if she is not married again. Spending on a daughter and her small children is highly rewarding. Similarly, by spending on a sister and niece one receives a great reward. Taking care of a poor widow and her orphan children, even if she is not a relative, is a great good deed.
