4299. It was narrated from Anas bin Mālik that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ recited this Verse: "He (Allāh) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilāh (god) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins)."[1] Then he said: "Allāh says: 'I am the One Who deserves to be feared, so no other god should be appointed alongside Me. Whoever avoids appointing another god alongside Me, I am the One Who should forgive him.'" (Da'if) Abul-Hasan Al-Qattān (narrated another chain): From Anas, that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said concerning this Verse: "He (Allāh) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilāh (god) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins)."[1] The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Your Lord says: 'I am the One Who deserves to be feared, so do not associate anything else with Me. And I am the One Who forgives the one who avoids associating anything with Me.'"
