Commentary

Anyone sleeping before the 'Ishâ' prayer runs the risk of not waking in time to perform the 'Ishâ' prayer or, even if he awakes, laziness might get the better of him and not allow him to perform the prayer with due submissiveness and devotion. It is, therefore, necessary that we go to sleep only after performing the 'Ishâ' prayer. Staying up and talking after the 'Ishâ' is also not proper, because it could result in one's sleeping past the Fajr prayer.
