English translation
97. It was narrated that Hudhaifah bin Yamân said: "The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: 'I do not know how long I will stay among you, so follow the example of these two after I am gone,' and he pointed to Abu Bakr and 'Umar." (Hasan)

97 - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِرِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي مَا قَدْرُ بَقَائِي فِيكُمْ، فَاقْتَدُوا بِاللَّذَيْنِ مِنْ بَعْدِي» وَأَشَارَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ

Commentary
a. The Hadith contains a broad hint about the caliphate of the two venerable Companions. b. The leader must train and cultivate individuals that would manage the affairs after him efficiently and well. c. The rulings and judgments of these two venerable Companions are not only more weighty and valuable, but also more worthy of being followed than the opinions of other Companions and religious leaders.
