English translation

988. 'Uthmân bin Abul-'Âs narrated that the last thing the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ enjoined on him was that he said: "When you lead people, keep it short for them." (Sahih)

Arabic text

988 - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، أَنَّ آخِرَ مَا قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا أَمَمْتَ قَوْمًا فَأَخِفَّ بِهِمْ»
