English translation

103. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbâs said: "When 'Umar became Muslim, Jibril came down and said: 'O Muhammad! The people of heaven are rejoicing because of 'Umar's Islam.'" (Da'if)

Arabic text

103 - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّلْحِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ الْحَوْشَبِيُّ، عَنِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " لَمَّا أَسْلَمَ عُمَرُ، نَزَلَ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، لَقَدِ اسْتَبْشَرَ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ بِإِسْلَامِ عُمَرَ "
