Commentary

a. Qailulah (siesta; midday nap) is a midday rest. On Fridays, however, the Companions abstained from taking it at its usual time in order to be early for Friday prayer. b. Delaying the lunch until after the Friday prayer was also a part of their preparation for it. They probably thought that going to the mosque with stuffed bellies might make them sleepy during the sermon.
