Commentary

a. Tahajjud is performed in units of two Rak’ah each. b. Praying one Rak’ah after Tahajjud is enough, although it is also in order to offer three or five Rak’ah with one Taslim. c. Praying a single Rak’ah for Witr with no voluntary Rak’ah before it is not desirable, since the Prophet ﷺ and the Companions had only been offering Witr after performing the voluntary prayer of Tahajjud.
