English translation
1342. It was narrated from Barâ' (bin 'Azîb) that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: "Beautify the Qur'ân with your voices." (Sahih)

1342 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ طَلْحَةَ الْيَامِيَّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْسَجَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ، يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «زَيِّنُوا الْقُرْآنَ بِأَصْوَاتِكُمْ»

Commentary
a. The Qur'ân must always be recited with as beautiful a voice as possible. b. Reciting the Qur'ân beautifully and well also means (i) producing the sounds from correct points of obstruction, (ii) avoiding errors in the articulation of short and long vowels, and (iii) with due modulation of the voice, according to the meaning and content of the recited Verse.
