Commentary
Undertaking a journey for 'visiting' is only allowed in respect of these three mosques. It is, however, perfectly in order to travel to any and every destination in the world for a valid purpose, such as acquisition of knowledge, business, employment, fighting in the cause of Allāh, meeting with relatives, friends or people of known scholarship or virtuosity. Similarly, it is in order for a person living in Al-Madinah to go to the Qubā' Mosque because this going does not fall under the definition of 'journey'.
