1516. It was narrated from Aswad bin Qais that he heard Nubaih Al-'Anazi say: "I heard Jâbir bin 'Abdullâh say: 'The Messenger of Allâh ﷺ commanded that the slain of the battle of Uhud should be returned to the battlefield; they had been moved to Al-Madinah.''" (Sahih)
1516 - حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، وَسَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، سَمِعَ نُبَيْحًا الْعَنْزِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «أَمَرَ بِقَتْلَى أُحُدٍ أَنْ يُرَدُّوا إِلَى مَصَارِعِهِمْ، وَكَانُوا نُقِلُوا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ»

a. The martyrs may be buried near, or even in the battlefield, instead of a general cemetery. b. Taking a dead body to another city for burial is not a good practice.
