English translation
1542. It was narrated from 'Amir bin Rabî'ah that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When you see a funeral (procession) stand up for it until it has passed by or it is placed on the ground." (Sahih)

1542 - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ سَمِعَهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْجِنَازَةَ فَقُومُوا لَهَا حَتَّى تُخَلِّفَكُمْ أَوْ تُوضَعَ»

Commentary
If a person is sitting by the road and a funeral is passing by, the sitting person should stand up, he may sit after the funeral has passed. The people following the funeral should not sit until the bier is placed on the ground. Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri ﷺ reported that Allâh's Messenger ﷺ said: "When you see a funeral passing by, you should stand up, and he who follows the funeral should not sit down until the bier is placed." (Sahih Al-Bukhârî: 1310)
