English translation

1581. It was narrated from Abu Mālik Ash'ari that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'Wailing is one of the affairs of the Days of Ignorance, and if the woman who wails dies without having repented, Allāh will cut a garment of pitch (tar) for her and a shirt of flaming fire.' (Hasan)

Commentary

a. 'Ignorance' means the era before the advent of the Noble Prophet ﷺ. When something is related with ignorance, it means it has nothing to do with Islam and it does not suit the Muslims. Only the disbelievers do this, and it suits them only. b. Even the major sins are forgiven after sincere repentance.
