167. 'Ubaidah narrated from 'Ali
bin Abu Tālib, that he mentioned the Khawārij, and said: "Among them there will be a man with a defective hand, or a short hand, or small hand. If you were to exercise restraint (i.e. not become overjoyed), I would tell you of what Allāh has promised upon the lips of Muhammad ﷺ for those who kill them." I ('Ubaidah) said: "Did you hear that from Muhammad ﷺ?" He said: "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah!" — three times." (Sahih)

Commentary
The Prophet ﷺ has spoken about the Khawārij at some length, and the events happened exactly as he had described them. It is a proof of his prophethood.
The Hadith affirms the virtue of 'Ali ﷺ and his associates that waged a war against the Khawārij.
It is allowed to swear by Allāh for purposes of emphasis.
