Commentary

Perhaps the Mother of the Believers, may Allâh be pleased with her, did not have information that the Prophet ﷺ observed fast on these days; however the Mother of the Believers herself observed fast on the Day of 'Arafah. Her fasting on the Day of 'Arafah showed that later, she learned the significance of this fast from other male or female Companions.
