English translation

1841. It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said: "Charity is not permissible for a rich man except in five cases: One who is appointed to collect it, a warrior fighting in the cause of Allâh, a rich man who buys it with his own money, a poor man who receives the charity and gives it as a gift to a rich man, and a debtor." (Sahih)

Commentary

When wealth of Zakât or charity is given away, and has been handed over to a valid recipient, its status of being charity changes. If a poor person offers something to someone rich as a gift, there is no need to find out if the poor got it by means of Sadaqah/charity or by another means. It is not a charity for the one who accepts it as a gift, so there is no harm in accepting it.
